THE TOUR ITINERARY

DAY 1-2: ALL ROADS LEAD TO ROME
Arrive in Rome after an overnight flight. Accompanied by an EFT Tour Director, we will visit the Spanish Steps, the Pantheon, and the Piazza Navona.
DAY 3: FROM CREATION TO FALL
We
will visit the Vatican, home to the Pope and to some of the world's most famous
art (remember not to wear shorts or to leave your arms uncovered if you expect
to see the inside of St. Peter's Basilica, however!). Then, it's off to
explore the heart of ancient Rome, highlighted by a visit to the Colosseum and a
walk through the Forum, where Romulus and the Vestal Virgins were worshipped and
Julius Caesar was assassinated.
DAY 4: UNDER THE TUSCAN SUN
We
will take a day trip to Florence, center of the Italian Renaissance.
Although the Florentines of the sixteenth-century could be Machiavellian, the
city is better known today as the home to the Uffizi, Michelangelo's "David,"
and Botticelli's "Venus de Milo."
DAY 5: LET'S GO SPELUNKING
We
will cross the Bay of Naples to the Isle of Capri and its famed Blue Grotto.
DAY 6: A GHOST TOWN ROMAN STYLE
Hopefully, Mt. Vesuvius will not erupt. In that case, we'll just have to make a very quick visit to POMPEII, a lively Roman resort town until its own encounter with that volcano in AD 79.
DAY 7-8: KNOW THYSELF!
After an overnight ferry across the Adriatic, we will arrive on Mainland Greece. We will travel to Delphi, the site of the Temple of Apollo, a place that was, according to the ancients, the center of the universe, and the home for the omphalos, the sacred stone swallowed by Cronus in place of the infant Zeus.

DAY 9: THE GLORY THAT WAS GREECE
We visit Athens, the birthplace of Western democracy. We will scale the heights of the Acropolis, and see the Parthenon and the Temple of Athena Nike.
DAY 10-12: SAILING THE CYCLADES
Cruise the Aegean aboard a Royal Olympic liner. Ports of call include Kusadasi, Turkey; Patmos, the place on which St. John the Evangelist wrote the Book of Revelation; Rhodes, a bastion for medieval crusaders and once home to one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World; and Mykonos.

PATMOS RHODES
ADDENDUM: A WORD FROM THE ORACLE
Are you feeling just a little tied down?
Perhaps a little self-conscious in your nakedness?
Eager to connect up your learning with the world outside the classroom?
Keep the faith. You'll soon be able to break free.
. . . And you will fly.
