PROCEDURE
1) After extensive preliminary reading, pick your choice for The Person Of The Century as well as a runner-up and a third-place choice. It is not mandatory that your person be one of Time's one hundred contenders.
2) Communicate these choice and the reasons behind them to the other participants in the Discussion Forum.
3) Engage in open discussion with your fellow journalists in the Forum. Part of this Chat can consist of an initial vigorous defense of your choice and/or criticism of the choices of your rivals. The process of choosing a "person of the century" is, however, an admittedly arbitrary one and our discussion is not designed as mere argument. You may want to respond to interesting comments made by your classmates and to write about the strengths and weaknesses of the different announced candidates. Do not define your mission only in terms of convincing others of your solomonic brilliance. Indeed, you may well find yourself changing your position as the discussion continues.
4) At the end of the two weeks of discussion, I will ask you to rank your final top three choices. The votes will be tallied and Time's winner as Person Of The Century announced.
