ANCIENT CIVILIZATION TABLOID
THE SCENARIO: You are the editor of an newspaper or magazine of ancient times. You have decided to issue a special commemorative edition which will celebrate the past several years of your publication. You are to design this special edition and bring it to class. You will also be responsible for an informal but informative mini-presentation.
RECOMMENDED LENGTH: 5-8 pages.

PROCEDURE: Decide whether you want to have a tabloid newspaper or magazine format, and whether you prefer a civilization or thematic focus. Research your topic and creatively put together your publication. As a commemorative issue, you can include any mix of retrospective looking-back articles and items drawn directly from the archives of your newspaper or magazine.
Be imaginative in your organizational structure. I would recommend including advertisements. If a newspaper, you may want include such sections as the following: International News, National News, Local News, Lifestyle, Arts and Entertainment, Homes, Business, Sports, Travel, Letters to the Editor, Editorials, Obituaries, Classifieds. If instead designing a thematic magazine, think about how you might compare and contrast different civilizations. You do not need footnotes. Please do, however, attach a bibliography to your paper.
