Phrygian Aezani reached its high point in the second century CE as a city associated with a sanctuary of Zeus.  A local legend told of Zues' birth in the nearby cave of Stevnos.  The cave today can only be reached by a four-wheel-drive vehicle or by a particularly motivated Jim being spurred on by his sidekick Dan.
